The electric power communication network is composed of a backbone communication network and a terminal communication access network.
The backbone communication network includes three levels: the inter-provincial backbone communication network, the provincial backbone communication network, and the municipal backbone communication network, covering power grid plants and stations of 35kV and above and various production offices in the power grid system. The inter-provincial backbone communication network consists of the State Grid Corporation’s headquarters (branch) to provincial companies, direct-regulated power plants and substations, and communication systems between branches and provincial companies. The provincial backbone communication network consists of the power supply company of the province (autonomous region, municipality directly under the Central Government) to the power supply company of the municipality under its jurisdiction, direct-regulated power plants and substations, and the communication system between companies in various cities within the jurisdiction. The backbone communication network of the prefecture and city is composed of communication systems from prefecture and city companies to county companies, direct-regulated power plants, substations of 35kV and above, power supply stations, and business halls. The backbone communication network is divided into transmission network, business network and support network according to function.
The transmission network is a network that realizes the transmission of various business information. It is responsible for node connection and provides transparent transmission of information between any two points. It is composed of transmission lines and transmission equipment. The electric power communication network mainly adopts optical transmission technology.
The service network is a network that provides users with communication services such as voice, video, and data, including communication data networks, dispatch telephone switching networks, and so on.
The support network is a support system that guarantees the normal operation of the transmission network and the business network. It is used to transmit monitoring signals, enhance network functions, and improve service quality, including clock synchronization networks, communication network management systems, etc.
The terminal communication access network consists of two parts: 10kV communication access network and 0.4kV communication access network, covering 10 (20, 6) kV and 0.4kV power grids. The 10kV communication access network is composed of 10kV outgoing lines from substations to the distribution network switch station, distribution room, ring network unit, pole switch, distribution transformer, distributed power station, electric vehicle charging station and other communication stations. The 0.4kV communication access network is composed of communication stations such as electricity consumption information collection terminals, indoor electricity consumption interactive terminals, and electric vehicle charging piles.
